Ninpo is the art of the Ninja. Ninpo often times is confused with "Ninjutsu". Ninjutsu is a subset of Ninpo. Ninpo includes 36 different arts of study: Taijutsu (un-armed combat), Bikenjutsu (sword), Shurikenjutsu (throwing blades), Bojutsu (staff), Metsubushi (blinding & disappearing methods) just to name a few.  Ninpo has a rich history of defense tactics and self-defense skills going back hundreds of years in Japan. From a self-defense perspective, the primary focus of our training is protecting ourselves and others, with an emphasis on escaping dangrous situations. Ninpo is a self-defense focused system of martial arts rather than competition based.

Japanese Ju-Jutsu is a martial art with a rich tradition, well known as the combative system used by the Samurai, and giving rise to numerous modern martial arts systems including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, & Aikido.

As a martial art, Japanese Ju-Jutsu includes numerous skills of combat, both unarmed and armed. A major distinction between Japanese Ju-Jutsu and its modern counterparts, is the former focuses on a more holistic approach to combatives, whereas the latter arts focus on a specific aspect of the original martial art.

Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu is a Japanese martial art that first became widely known in the 20th century under the headmastership of Takeda Sokaku. The modern martial art of Aikido originated from aikijujutsu. Morehei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido was a high level student of Takeda Sokaku. Aikijujutsu emphasizes throwing techniques and joint manipulation to effectively subdue an attacker.

Aiki-Jujutsu is known to have a "softer" approach, making the art perfect for martial art beginners or those who are older in age.

Kenjutsu is the umbrella term for all schools of Japanese Swordsmanship, in particular those that predate the Meiji Restoration. Some modern sword styles of kendo & iaido that were established in the 20th century also included modern forms of Kenjutsu in their curriculum.

Kenjutsu, which originated with the samurai class of feudal Japan, means "methods, techniques, and the art of the Japanese sword". Serious concentration, study, and discipline is required in our Japanese Sword Program.
